About Me

Hello and Welcome!

I am Gayathri, I am part of Think Feel Talk. My passion is helping people harness their own power and potential to lead a more meaningful life.

My Work Philosophy

In my practice as a person-centred therapist, my philosophy is to consider and centre you as the experiencer, astute observer and active driver of your own life. For example, I believe that when you feel the life you have been living is causing you to experience discomfort, confusion, frustration, sadness and any other emotions, you may make a conscious choice to change it for yourself. One of the steps you may consider is choosing to have a space where you can think aloud, feel openly and talk freely. This is why the counselling practice I am part of is called “Think Feel Talk”.

My role as a therapist is to create a space where openness, impartiality, safety, stability, trustworthiness, and confidentiality are prioritised. A space where you feel your thoughts are allowed to be aloud without restriction and your feelings and emotions can have an expression.

How I Work

Non-Directive - Person - Centred Approach

I believe that you as a client know best what hurts and that you have within you the capacity to begin your healing. I am, as a therapist is, trained to facilitate this process to unfold in a safe manner. To facilitate this process, I strive to create the environment with these qualities:

  • Unconditional positive regard - A deep acceptance of You.

  • Empathy - A willingness to understand You.

  • Congruence - A commitment to being genuine in our relationship with You.

These distinctive qualities, offered professionally and consistently, in a safe, supportive and challenging/reflective therapeutic environment has the benefit of causing change.

Directive - Motivational Interviewing Style Approach

I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to guide clients who require more goal-oriented approach towards change. For example, for presenting issues such as Addiction, Depression and Lack of motivation MI is proved to be beneficial.

  • Directive - This is a guiding style communication that follows your own motivation for change.

  • Client's Autonomy - This style focusses on empowering you by focussing on your own capacity and importance for change.

  • Therapist way of being - The process is facilitated by the therapist remaining respectful and curious of your process of change.
